Taekyoung Yun

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, I studied International Foundation Programme(IFP) at Glasgow School of Art(GSA) and I have currently concentrated on BA course which is Jewellery Design and Related Products at School of Jewellery in Birmingham in the UK as the first year student.

I love travelling. It makes me inspired by anything in the world. I have realised how beautiful or spectacular is nature, landscape, pattern, architecture, atmosphere, like surrounding of me in many places. The inspiration is pivotal in the creating jewellery design in my style. Sometimes I am able to design easily and quickly from generating 2D to making 3D prototype processes. I have started reading a poem and imagining a background of stories to combine the poem and my design process. It might help me develop my creative thinking.

In the future, I would like to see myself as an established fine jewellery designer after graduating from Birmingham’s School of Jewellery and having work experiences I’ll be better prepared for field of jewellery where I want to work in luxury and fine jewellery brand

Moreover, I am interested in fashion and have sought long related studies in magazines, watched fashion shows, and making collages about collections. I was delighted to look for some information and build up my knowledge about this area. Especially, I have always worn black clothes and regarded dark style as vital to my aesthetic. That led me to think about jewellery because, without jewellery, the black style usually does not stand out. I needed an accent or elements to somehow show my full fashion sense. This is the reason why I have an interest in jewellery.
